Best Kentucky Blackberry Cobbler

A classic Southern-style cobbler with juicy blackberries and a buttery, golden crust.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups fresh blackberries, washed
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Pour the melted butter into the bottom of an 8×8 or similar baking dish.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Stir in the milk until you have a smooth batter.
  5. Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter in the baking dish — do not stir.
  6. Scatter the blackberries evenly across the batter — again, do not stir.
  7. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!

Notes

  • Optional: Sprinkle a little extra sugar on top before baking for extra crispness.
  • Delicious served with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
