Cheddar Crunch Bake golden cheesy casserole

Ingredients

  • 4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups crushed butter crackers (like Ritz)
  • 2 cups cooked chicken or ham (optional for extra protein)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 large eggs
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
  3. Fold in half of the cheddar cheese and any cooked meat (if using).
  4. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, smoothing it evenly.
  5. Top with the remaining cheese and sprinkle the crushed crackers evenly on top.
  6. Drizzle melted butter over the cracker layer for extra crunch.
  7. Bake for 35–40 minutes, until golden brown and bubbling.
  8. Cool slightly before serving — the edges crisp up beautifully as it sets.
