Grandma’s Sausage Breakfast Casserole ❤️

“I cannot believe I finally found this recipe! My grandma would make this for holiday parties when I was a girl and I would sneak as many as I could without being discovered. A true guilty pleasure and my heart is so happy to be able to make them again. 😋”

Grandma’s Sausage Breakfast Casserole

🧀 Ingredients

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 6 slices bread, cubed
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Optional: ¼ cup chopped onion or bell pepper

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, dry mustard, salt, and pepper.
  4. Layer bread cubes evenly in the baking dish. Sprinkle sausage and cheese over the bread.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the top, ensuring everything is covered.
  6. Let it rest for 10–15 minutes (or refrigerate overnight for deeper flavor).
  7. Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden and set in the center.
  8. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving warm.
💡 Tip: You can add a pinch of garlic powder, diced peppers, or even hash browns for extra texture. This casserole reheats beautifully — perfect for busy mornings or brunch parties!
