Ingredients
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- Additional chocolate chips for filling
Directions
1. Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Melt Butter & Chocolate
Melt the butter and chocolate chips together in a microwave-safe bowl or over a double boiler.
Let the mixture cool slightly before using.
3. Make the Dough
- Whisk together both sugars, eggs, and vanilla extract until combined.
- Stir in the melted chocolate mixture until smooth.
- Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Fold gently until just combined.
4. Chill & Fill
Chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
Scoop portions of dough, insert extra chocolate chips in the center, and shape into balls.
5. Bake
Place cookie balls on the baking sheet and bake for 10–12 minutes,
until the tops are glossy and slightly cracked. Let cool for 5 minutes on the pan before transferring to a wire rack.
Tip: Serve warm for that molten lava center experience!
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat slightly to re-melt the chocolate inside.
