Amish Winter Bliss

This cozy, hearty Amish-inspired dish combines ground beef, potatoes, carrots, and green beans in a rich, savory sauce.
It’s the perfect comfort food for cold days — simple, filling, and full of flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 3 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 2 large carrots, sliced
- 1 cup green beans (fresh or frozen)
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until fragrant.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in tomato paste, beef broth, paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a baking dish, layer the potatoes, carrots, and green beans. Pour the meat mixture evenly on top and mix lightly.
- Cover with foil and bake for 40–45 minutes, or until vegetables are tender.
- Remove foil and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes for a nice finish.
Serving suggestion: Enjoy warm with crusty bread or buttered rolls for the ultimate winter comfort meal.
