Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients:

  • 6 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk (or use cream for a richer texture)
  • 1/2 cup cooked ham, diced
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or any preferred cheese)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (or butter)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Fresh parsley or chives for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Egg Mixture:

In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder (if using). Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and Parmesan (if desired), then set aside.

2. Cook the Ham and Onions:

Heat olive oil (or butter) in a medium non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened and translucent. Next, add the diced ham and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes until lightly browned.

3. Add the Egg Mixture:

Lower the heat to a simmer and pour the egg mixture over the ham and onions in the skillet, spreading it evenly. Allow the frittata to cook for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are firm and the center remains slightly soft.

4. Cover and Finish Cooking:

Cover the skillet with a lid and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, until the center is fully set. The steam will ensure even cooking without needing to flip the frittata. For a golden top, you can place the frittata under a broiler for 1-2 minutes (optional).

5. Serve:

Once the frittata is cooked through, remove it from the heat and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Slice into wedges and garnish with fresh parsley or chives, if desired.

Tips:

  • Customization: Add vegetables like spinach, bell peppers, or mushrooms for added flavor and nutrients.
  • Cheese Variations: Try mozzarella, Gruyère, or goat cheese for a unique twist on the flavor profile.
  • Skillet Choice: A quality non-stick skillet is key to prevent sticking and ensure an easy release.
