Apple Cinnamon Lasagna Rolls Recipe

Apple Cinnamon Lasagna Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 2 packages of cinnamon rolls
  • 4 large apples, peeled and diced (Granny Smith or Golden Delicious recommended)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • ½ cup caramel sauce (or salted caramel sauce, if preferred)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare an 8″ x 8″ x 2″ (or similar) glass or ceramic baking dish by spraying it with nonstick cooking spray. I used a 7″ x 9″ x 2″ ceramic dish for this recipe.
  2. Prepare Apple Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the diced apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch. Toss the mixture until the apples are evenly coated.
  3. Prepare Cinnamon Rolls: Unroll the cinnamon rolls and cut them into ½-inch strips. Roll these strips out on a floured surface until they are soft and fluffy. The dough can be sticky, so generously sprinkle flour on both the surface and your hands to prevent sticking.
  4. Layer the Dish: Take a portion of the flattened cinnamon rolls and line the bottom and sides of the baking dish. Press down firmly to seal the dough into place.
  5. Add Apple Filling: Spread half of the apple filling over the cinnamon roll layer, and drizzle 2-3 tablespoons of caramel sauce over the top. Add another layer of flattened cinnamon roll strips on top.
  6. Second Layer: Spread the remaining apple mixture and drizzle more caramel sauce. Cover with the last layer of cinnamon rolls.
  7. Bake: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  8. Cool and Serve: Allow the dish to cool for at least 30 minutes. Finally, drizzle with the icing that comes with the cinnamon rolls, slice, and serve.
